Carol Markowicz is a Brazilian director and screenwriter based in São Paulo. She co-created the Netflix series Nobody is Looking, which won the 2020 International Emmy, and is a member of AMPAS. Her short film The Orphan won the Queer Palm at Cannes in 2018. Carol has directed two feature films, Carvão and Pedágio, which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival, plus six short films selected for over 300 festivals including Cannes, Locarno, SXSW, and San Sebastián, earning over 100 awards. In advertising, she has directed campaigns for Uber, Nubank, Sprite, Volvo, Samsung, Netflix, Facebook, TikTok, ESPN, Anheuser-Busch InBev, Lacta, Mizuno, Oreo, Brixadi, Canva, Quinto Andar, and Manscaped. She began her career as a copywriter before transitioning to directing, bringing expertise in humor, emotional drama, and visual storytelling to commercial work.
