Camila Zapiola is an internationally recognized comedy director known for dark humor, subversive storytelling, and nuanced performance direction. Born in Argentina and raised on film sets as the daughter of commercial director Augusto Zapiola, she earned a Film Direction degree from Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires before studying acting at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in New York. This dual training informs her distinctive approach to casting and working with talent across all genres. Her commercial work moves fluidly between dialogue-driven and visual comedy, rendering human absurdity with precision and authenticity. She has directed spots for Olay, McDonald's, Baileys, Tesco, Volkswagen, DoorDash, LEGO, Kotex, and Peroni Nastro Azzurro, including an Olay funeral spot where the deceased appears so youthful she's mistaken for her grandson's wife and a McDonald's exam spot featuring a confident student causing a commotion. Her work has earned recognition at Cannes Lions, The One Show, and Clios. A trailblazer in a field where 81% of directors are men, Zapiola actively casts strong women in leadership roles and serves as Free The Work ambassador for Argentina and Uruguay. She is currently working with Stink Films globally, Joinery_X for US Hispanic and several European markets, BOLD in the UK, and Dear Friend in Canada.
