Bart Timmer is a commercial director with nearly three decades of experience in character-driven comedy and cinematic storytelling. After studying Film & Television Science at the University of Amsterdam (1992-1996) and attending the Film Academy in Amsterdam, he shot his first commercial before graduating. Bart's work combines extreme attention to detail, impeccable comedic timing, and skillful actor direction. He has created globally recognized campaigns for Volkswagen (including the viral "Laughing Horses" for VW Tiguan Trailer Assist with 40 million views), Heineken ("Walk in Fridge," "Nature's Wonder," "150 Anniversary"), Canal Digital/Canal+ ("Silver Hand," "Scouts," "Alien"), Mercedes-Benz, Aldi, World of Warcraft ("The Tavern"), and HBO's on-air campaign for Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics. His VW Tiguan campaign won awards from The One Show, New York Festivals, Epica, Eurobest, D&AD, Clio, Lia, Cannes, and ADCE. SHOTS magazine named him one of the Top 10 Directors Worldwide. Bart has earned Lions at Cannes, D&AD Gold and Silver Pencils, Clio Awards, and recognition at ADC Netherlands, Germany, and Switzerland. Currently working with The Sweetshop globally, CZAR in Belgium/Netherlands/France/Germany, Bacon Production in the Nordics, and Partners Film in the UK/US.
