Anna & Ewan (Anna Sandilands and Ewan McNicol) are a commercial and documentary directing duo signed by Chelsea Pictures for U.S. branded representation in September 2019 after prior ad-side handling at RSA Films. With Ewan as cinematographer, they work as a nimble pair known for intimate sets and observational storytelling that finds genuine human moments with actors and non-actors alike. Their feature documentary Uncertain, set in an eastern Texas bayou town, won the Albert Maysles Award for Best New Documentary Director at Tribeca in 2015, screened at Sundance, SXSW, BFI London, MoMA, the ICA London, and the National Portrait Gallery, and drew coverage from The New York Times, Variety, and The Guardian. Commercial credits include United “Every Flight” (72&Sunny), Ford “Parent Mode” and “Accessories” (VMLY&R), Airbnb “Live There” (TBWA Chiat), Meta/Facebook Portal “Family,” Prudential “The State of Us: Monowi” (Droga5), Huntington Bank “Let’s Get More from Money,” and Verizon’s “Can you hear us now?” evolution with Paige Bueckers and Roger Goodell, plus Google, Apple, Nike, and Nokia. Brand work has aired in the Super Bowl and collected Cannes Lions, Webbys (including Best Documentary), Pencils, an Effie, a One Show award, a BAFTA nomination, and a Royal Television Society award.
