Alejandro G. Iñárritu began directing commercials in the 1990s at Mexico’s Z Films after radio and music work. Advertising credits include BMW’s Powder Keg episode of The Hire (2001/02), a Cannes Gold Lion winner starring Clive Owen; Nike’s Write the Future for the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which won the Cannes Lions Grand Prix; and Nike’s Air Moves You (2018). He directed Procter & Gamble’s Thank You, Mom – Best Job for the 2012 Olympics, earning a Primetime Emmy for Best Commercial and a DGA Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Commercials. Other brand films include Facebook’s The Things That Connect Us (2012) and Yves Saint Laurent’s L’Homme Libre (2011).
