Aaron Duffy is a Brooklyn-based commercial director and co-founder of SpecialGuest who joined 1stAveMachine in 2007 as its inaugural director and remains a partner. He directed Google’s “Parisian Love,” the brand’s first television and Super Bowl commercial—a music-driven search-bar narrative inducted into the MoMA archive for the Art and Technique of the American Commercial and listed by TIME among all-time best Super Bowl spots. Google Chrome films built on physical sculptures, optical illusions, and in-camera techniques earned multiple Cannes Gold Lions; an Audi project took a Bronze Lion. His work favors tactile practical-effects storytelling: cardboard constructions for Audi, eleven-foot Chrome-logo illusions, and the single-take warehouse set of OK Go’s “The Writing’s on the Wall” (co-directed; VMA-recognized). Credits include Apple (“Perspective,” iPhone X Illusions), Ford Mustang Mach-E, Rag & Bone (“Why Can’t We Get Along” with Ansel Elgort; “A Last Supper”), Meta, Snap, Lyft, Spotify, TSMC, and Ray-Ban Meta glasses. In 2014–15 he co-founded SpecialGuest, partnering with internal teams at Google Creative Lab, Meta, and Snap, alongside SpecialGuestX for AI and robotics. Honors include Business Insider’s 30 Most Creative People in Advertising Under 30 (2015), Adweek Creative 100, ADC Young Guns, and an AdAge top-10 directors list.
